The United Nations developed a blueprint for partnerships to achieve peace and prosperity for the people and the planet. It is an urgent call for action, recognising that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth. At the same time, tackling climate change and working to preserve oceans and forests.
At the heart of the blueprint are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at ending extreme poverty, reducing inequality and injustice, and protecting the planet by 2030. Adopted by 193 countries in 2015, the SDGs have inspired people from across sectors, geographies, and cultures to focus on ideas, initiatives and actions that generate larger impact, advance the SDG imperative to ‘leave no one behind’ and are backed by evidence, practical commitments and action.
MyKasih Foundation received the United Nations Malaysia Award 2018 for ‘Leaving No One Behind’ on 24 October 2018 in conjunction with the 73rd Anniversary of the United Nations. The award was for the effective technology-driven welfare distribution method that has delivered aid to large numbers of poor Malaysians.
